Where to enjoy a drink on a downtown terrace?

Le O'Coiffure, pour boire un verre en terrasse au centre-ville

Montreal is never more beautiful than in summer. The special sunlight streaming through the trees, the festive atmosphere that reigns over the city, and of course the many terraces that flourish here and there… it’s great to be outside! The downtown area also boasts a host of charming outdoor spaces, providing the perfect opportunity to relax and make the most of the fine weather! Here are our suggestions for having a drink on a terrace downtown.

O Coiffure & Spa

This elegant beauty salon, which offers high-end hair and spa treatments, is also a cocktail bar, where you can enjoy a drink and nibble on homemade amuse-bouches. An ideal combination for a complete relaxation experience! Drinks – both alcoholic and non-alcoholic – are created to order by a team of passionate and dedicated professionals.

For the summer season, the establishment is banking on the motto “sunsets, cocktails, luxury” and offers you a refined summer break on the terrace. A special menu has been created for the occasion, and Spritz will also feature prominently on this fresh menu. In short – a delicious treat after a haircut or facial, or simply as a stopover.

Le Balcon x Terrasse

Perhaps you’ve already heard of Le Balcon – the magnificent venue for chic cabaret evenings. As of May 24, the establishment is taking advantage of its exceptional location on Rue Sainte-Catherine to launch Le Balcon x Terrasse – the place to celebrate the beautiful season downtown! Beers, wines, bubbles, cocktails and even pitchers of sangria: the menu is as wonderfully summery as it is sophisticated. And, to top it all off, special evenings (dance classes, DJ…) are organized from Thursday to Sunday, with prizes to be won until the end of August. In short, head to the forecourt of Saint-James church to discover this beautiful outdoor space entirely dedicated to music, aperitifs… and happiness!

3 Brasseurs

There’s no need to introduce Les 3 Brasseurs, a franchise based in northern France offering excellent microbrewery beers. We love their traditional beers, always brewed on site, but also their delicious ephemeral creations! This summer, we invite you to discover three new beers on the terrace: Canari, Cérès and, above all, the aptly named Aloha Island. Three ways to refresh yourself and get away from it all!

And to make the most of the long summer evenings, the establishment also offers a selection of new cocktails created especially for the season. Classics, mocktails and unique creations are just some of the reasons to enjoy the beautiful terrace on Rue Sainte-Catherine and Avenue McGill College!

Bar George

Bar George is regularly cited as one of the finest bars in the country; a prestigious venue in the heart of a historic building that looks like something out of a period film. Needless to say, the terrace had to live up to its reputation! Sheltered by the beautiful stonework and watched over by the ancestral façade, the little green setting doesn’t disappoint.

A welcome urban refuge, where you’ll have the pleasure of sampling one of the fantastic signature cocktails – or a perfectly executed classic. The dishes are divine, but the ideal way to make the most of the outdoors is with a snack menu: land, sea and garden come together to delight your taste buds – always with the same concern for excellence.

Nyk’s Bistro Pub

Just a stone’s throw from Place des Arts, on quiet Rue de Bleury, this is the ideal place to enjoy a drink before or after a show! A fine beer list awaits you, but you’ll also find wine and a fine selection of spirits. We love the elegant but unpretentious setting, the pleasant little terrace and the friendly atmosphere. A perfect cross between the English pub and the New York tavern, Nyk’s is first and foremost a place where you can enjoy a quiet good time, in a neighborhood that’s nonetheless bustling with activity. Try it and you’ll soon become a regular!

Ciel Ouvert

Book your Thursdays: from 5pm to 10pm, once a week, the Ciel Ouvert terrace is THE place to go for an aperitif! DJs, beers and cocktails: the promise of leaving all your worries behind. In a warm, festive yet sophisticated atmosphere, this delightful urban garden is a sweet escape to share with friends or colleagues. In the sumptuous setting of Esplanade Ville-Marie, under the Oval and the stars, let yourself be intoxicated by the music and the charm of the place. The Cathcart courtyard has never been so perfect!
