Where to get coffee around Phillips Square?
Brand new and beautiful! Phillips Square was scheduled for redevelopment in 2021. This winter, it enchanted us with its Christmas decorations, and charmed us with its light therapy installations. This summer, the magic continues, with the installation of special street furniture and the organization of musical performances. In other words, there’s no better place to relax in the sun and enjoy the fine weather in a most pleasant setting! And what better way to sit out on the terrace than with a good cup of coffee? Luckily the district is teeming with delicious little spots to help you make the most of your day.
Second Cup Café & Cie
Second Cup, our 100% Canadian coffee chain, needs no introduction! Ideally located in Phillips Square, Second Cup offers gourmet coffees for every taste. But the store doesn’t stop there! For summer, Second Cup is focusing on fruity, refreshing and sometimes even daring drinks that will be hard to resist. Citrus and lavender spritzer, prickly pear and tropical fruit infuzion, hibiscus iced tea with coconut milk… just like Phillips Square, the brand is reinventing itself and offering us summer on a platter. And if you miss caffeine, you can even enjoy an Energy Drink Infuzion!
The little extra? The soft pastries, which will put you in a good mood all day long.

Les Glaceurs
Summer means ice cream! Just a stone’s throw from Phillips Square, Les Glaceurs offers the treats of their partner Bilboquet. But Les Glaceurs is also, and above all, about extraordinary handcrafted cupcakes, to be enjoyed with a good cup of coffee. The downtown store offers a variety of beverages, to be enjoyed with or without pastries – although you’ll probably find it hard to resist! The perfect opportunity to push open the doors of this charming and colorful place, and discover the range of sweets on offer.

Krispy Kreme Café
When you think of Krispy Kreme, you think first and foremost (and rightly so!) of hot, melting, wonderfully comforting doughnuts. But Krispy Kreme also offers specialty coffees, as well as tea and hot chocolate. And let’s not be afraid of the heat: for summer, the brand offers a whole range that’s as refreshing as it is delicious, including Frozzé and Chillers. So, Kaffé Krème if the weather’s overcast, or iced coffee if the sun’s beating down – you’ll always find the right beverage!

Plentea Bar à thé
More tea than coffee? No problem: downtown always has a solution! Head for Plentea: infusion paradise, blending Eldorado, chai empire – in short, the kingdom of tea! The boutique offers tasty fresh teas, blended on site and concocted with love. You’ll find both classics and original flavours, specially created by the house. Like coffee, the teas can be taken to go and enjoyed outdoors: in short, the ideal drink for rediscovering Phillips Square!
It’s worth noting that Plentea also offers delicious cookies – because tea is only as good as its accompaniment!

Café et Crêpe
Café et Crêpe: it’s all in the title, and it’s a wonderful program! Lovely crêpes (sweet and savoury), good sandwiches, a choice of salads: if you’re looking for a quick, light meal, Café et Crêpe is the place to be. What’s more, the shop offers a vast selection of beverages to satisfy all your gourmet cravings! Coffees, lattes, chai… all the great classics are on the menu. But the company also offers delicious ice cream specialties, perfect for the season! You’ll not only find smoothies, but also the whole coffee menu in a “frappée” version: iced mochaccino, iced cappuccino… the nectar comes in a variety of forms, each more refreshing than the last. Heat? No problem!

Leaves House
Leaves House is an adorable café, entirely vegan and beautifully decorated with greenery; you’ll find tea as well as coffee, or even bubble teas. Everything, including the pastries, is made entirely from plants.
Among the many delights on offer, the house specialty is matcha tea – imported directly from Japan! It comes in hot and cold versions, and even in matcha lemonade for summer. And if you prefer a classic, there’s no doubt that the comforting versions of your favorite beverages are sure to please: maple flat white, golden chai or homemade iced tea are sure to put a smile on your face. And even though the premises are particularly pleasant, we happily head to Phillips Square to soak up the light… like the plants!

Café Olimpico
For the past few years, Montreal’s most famous Italian café has had a downtown location… much to our delight! Marble countertops, typical pastries and that delicious aroma: once you cross the threshold, there’s no doubt you’re in Italy. Of course, we’d also recommend the excellent coffees: between a mellow, decadent caffe crema and a deliciously summery caffe fredo, the choice is already difficult!
Who said you had to go to Italy to experience la dolce vita?
