E

Updated for 2025 – New family-friendly restaurants have been added to our selection this year.

With the cold settling in and lights illuminating the streets, the atmosphere in downtown Montreal is perfect for family outings. The sparkling decorations and the city’s vibrant energy invite you to enjoy a delicious meal in great company.

However, finding a restaurant that suits the whole family, from the youngest to the oldest, can quickly become a challenge! That’s why we’ve curated a selection of welcoming spots where everyone can enjoy a delightful meal in a warm atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for a cozy vibe, a gourmet experience, or a comforting classic, our list offers options for every taste and budget, organized by area. Bon appétit!

In the Quartier des spectacles

Right in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles, you’ll find plenty of family-friendly spots with a relaxed, welcoming vibe.

At Café et Crêpe, sweet or savoury crêpes make everyone happy – little ones and grown-ups alike.

St-Hubert keeps things classic with its signature rotisserie chicken and ribs, plus a permanent kids’ menu featuring $5 meals every Tuesday.

Sports fans can head to La Cage at Complexe Desjardins, where a hearty menu and $4 kids’ specials every Sunday make game day a family affair.

Universel is always a safe bet with generous breakfasts and a wide variety of dishes to please every appetite.

Over at Bâton Rouge, those famous ribs win over both parents and kids – especially with the youth menu that includes sides, a drink, and ice cream.

For something a little more refined, Bivouac, a bright, modern bistro perched above Place des Festivals, serves local flavours in a social, laid-back setting, with options tailored for kids too.

And now, the brand-new Cochon Dingue brings even more family fun to the neighbourhood with a menu designed especially for children under 10.

Around boulevard René-Lévesque

This area is a goldmine for family classics. Start with the legendary smoked meat at Dunn’s Famous, where the kids’ menu includes a drink and ice cream – comfort food for every generation.

Little foodies will love The Keg Steakhouse + Bar, where child-sized portions come with fresh veggies, a drink, and a frozen dessert.

For a more elevated experience, Restaurant Europea by chef Jérôme Ferrer introduces kids to fine dining with a special seven-course tasting menu offered at a reduced price for ages 5 to 15.

At Rosélys, the chic setting of the Fairmont Le Reine Elizabeth pairs beautifully with dishes designed for younger guests – and kids even get a discount when staying at the hotel.

Among the area’s newest additions, Lucille’s and La Belle et la Bœuf stand out with generous kids’ menus, while Chez Lionel, a modern French brasserie, offers a main-and-dessert combo for children 12 and under.

And for a quick, casual stop, Bol & Bulle serves up colourful poké bowls and bubble teas — perfect for an easy family meal before exploring the city.

In the heart of Sainte-Catherine Street

Along this lively downtown artery, family-friendly options abound. Burger lovers will be right at home at Mister Steer, where crispy “Suzie Q” fries and free drinks for kids under 10 make everyone smile.

For a cozy brunch or family lunch, Universel’s second location offers the same warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Reuben’s remains a go-to for smoked meat lovers, with a $12.50 kids’ menu that includes a drink, main dish, and ice cream.

If you like variety, Time Out Market Montréal lets everyone pick their favourite counter in a laid-back setting, while Le Cathcart charms visitors with its bright space and endless options for all ages.

On the ground floor of Place Ville Marie, Les Enfants Terribles serves generous kids’ meals for lunch, brunch, and dinner – a perfect family stop in a warm, elegant setting.

True to its reputation, Il Focolaio continues to win hearts with its wood-fired pizzas, ideal for sharing.

And to end on an Asian note, Sushiuma offers a great deal for kids – half-price meals for ages 3 to 6, and free for children under 3.

Around the Shaughnessy Village

This quieter pocket of downtown hides several gems perfect for a relaxed family meal. Smash burger fans will love Patty Slaps, where the buns are baked fresh daily and the sauces are made in-house.

For something a little different, Manga Bistro invites both kids and adults into a colourful anime-inspired world with all-you-can-eat sushi and an immersive setting.

And the new K2 Bistro is quickly becoming a family favourite, offering all-you-can-eat sushi in a warm, welcoming atmosphere – the ideal spot to unwind and share a good meal after a busy day.
