Where to eat near Phillips Square?

Phillips Square is the place to be this summer! After a few months’ redevelopment, this charming little urban park is ready to open its arms and to let you make the most of the summer season. So, before or after a few sunny hours reading, sunbathing or chatting with friends, what could be better than a good meal? The square is surrounded by a variety of restaurants, each more delicious than the last. The hardest part of your day will be choosing one!

Mandy’s Salades Gourmandes

Founded by two sisters in 2004, Mandy’s restaurants have been delighting our palates for almost twenty years now. The salads are incredible: original, fresh and gourmet, they’re above all generous and won’t leave you hungry! The team plays with flavors and textures to constantly offer original creations, and you’ll always discover new ideas – perhaps inspiring you to create your own recipes. Grain bowls (quinoa, noodles…) and delicious smoothies are also on the menu. Summer is definitely on your plate!

Pizza Il Focolaio

This authentic Italian pizzeria has been delighting Montrealers since 1984! A sure bet for southern flavors and comfort food. The menu features no fewer than 77 pizzas, all baked in wood-fired ovens, with a choice of vegan and lactose-free cheeses. A few generous salads round out the menu, as does a selection of fine wines for wine lovers. Everything is made from fresh, carefully selected ingredients. Our favorite part is always the warm welcome and the wonderfully homely atmosphere. Here, everything is concocted with love, and it shows!

Les Pâtes Vivantes / Live Noodles

I promise, the pasta won’t run away from your plate on its tiny legs, and it won’t be dancing a jig in your stomach either! The name simply comes from the fact that it’s fresh and handcrafted on site. It’s a real feast for the eyes! The dishes are delightful, and some recipes allow you to rediscover pasta: Shaanxi spicy noodles with tomato sauce and eggs, for example, are a pure delight, and a serious competitor to the spaghetti bolognaise of our childhood! Wok dishes and rice recipes are also available. In short, if you’re hungry for a bowl of happiness, Les Pâtes Vivantes is the place for you.

Koa Lua Hawaiian Poke

If you don’t go to Hawaii, Hawaii will come to you! Right in the heart of downtown, this bright and wonderfully colorful restaurant awaits you for an exotic break. In a tiki-inspired setting, fresh, gourmet poke bowls are served on surfboard-shaped tables. Salmon, shrimp, tofu or beef: the options are endless! Hawaiian flavors blend with international ingredients, and the whole thing blends harmoniously into dishes that couldn’t be more satisfying. A simple but tasty meal, to be enjoyed with a fresh juice to brighten up your day!

Escondite

Downtown would be incomplete without a good Mexican restaurant! Escondite serves up tacos, guacamole and ceviche. The creative menu revisits the great classics of Central American cuisine, with a modern twist. It’s original, sometimes unexpected, but always gourmet! We love the black cherries in the pork chops, or the black truffle paste in the quesadillas. All this is enjoyed in a cheerful yet elegant setting, where the decor pays homage to the flamboyant country of Mexico.

Note that the restaurant specializes in tequila-based cocktails – the ideal place, then, for a party with friends, or a festive happy hour after a long week’s work!

Benny & Co.

Of course, Benny & Co. is on hand downtown to satisfy your cravings for chicken and ribs! This comforting Quebec franchise offers hormone-free grain-fed chicken, roasted for three hours according to the family recipe. It’s also a great option if you’re craving poutine!

You may not have known it, but Benny & Co. also offers vegetarian options. In particular, vegetable protein fillets are available in salads and wraps… and they are, of course, always served with the same delicious fries!

La Baguette Farcie

This small, family-run franchise, which has just celebrated the opening of its third outlet, offers tasty, colorful fast food with a southern flavour. Part sandwich shop, part pizzeria, it offers generous pizzas, poutines and salads – all with a hint of deliciously Tunisian spices. The famous “stuffed baguettes” are also available à la carte, and they’re absolutely decadent! We love these simple but homemade products, with their scents of vacation and sunshine. A meal on the go that won’t leave you hungry!

Fisshu

Fisshu is nothing less than a gourmet’s paradise. An excellent restaurant serving Japanese dishes that can be ordered… as much as you like! The menu is huge, and the tasty products are prepared to order. From sushi and maki to wok, ramen and teriyaki (grill) dishes, you’ll find everything you could possibly want, and more. Even the desserts are unlimited! It’s all the more difficult to choose because you’ll be tempted to order certain sweets a second time…

Good to know: you can bring your own wine! A great way to accompany your favorite bottles. And don’t forget your hat and sunscreen: when you leave, it’s siesta time at Phillips Square!

The portions are generous (15 ravioli per serving!) and the menu offers a lot of options. Vegetarian, meat or even fish: these heavenly morsels will delight your taste buds! Don’t hesitate to accompany them with an appetizer to vary the flavors and taste the delicious pickled vegetables and other takoyakis of the house. M4 Burritos Place-des-Arts

The tasty M4 is THE reference for Tex-Mex cuisine! At this Place des Arts branch , you’ll enjoy gourmet burritos made just like in San Francisco. The restaurant’s mission is simple: to maintain the high standards of a traditional restaurant, while serving them as quickly as a fast-food chain. The challenge has been met with flying colors, as evidenced by the fresh, tasty dishes coming out of the kitchen. From sandwiches (in a tortilla) to salads and bowls, there’s something for every taste – and every appetite. And from Phillips Square to California, it’s only a short step!
