Initiatives led by Montreal centre-ville for the summer 2025 season

Montréal centre-ville mission is to foster the economic and commercial vitality, the appeal, and the quality of life of the heart of the metropolis. As the summer season approaches, various initiatives are being implemented to enhance the experience of tourists, visitors, and residents.
Let’s take action where our contribution can make a difference!
Safety and Community Living: A Priority for the Summer 2025 Season
To ensure a harmonious environment, increased collaboration with law enforcement and social services is being prioritized.
Our key initiatives:
- Hiring a full-time field agent to improve cohesion in public spaces
- Financial support for access to showers at the YMCA for people experiencing homelessness
- Implementation of joint operations with the SPVM targeting organized crime and shoplifting
- Funding for additional cadets during the summer season
- Close collaboration with downtown foot patrol officers
- Official reinstatement of the SPVM’s Public Space Brigade
- Partnership with the SPVM and the City on community coexistence issues
The Cleanliness Brigade, Active 7 Days a Week
Montréal centre-ville cleanliness Brigade will ensure the upkeep of the area. It will cover not only the downtown core but also adjacent streets.
This project is made possible thanks to the support of the Borough of Ville-Marie.
Welcoming Public Spaces Throughout Downtown
From June 1 to October 15, downtown public squares will be transformed to welcome both residents and visitors.
Four squares and public spaces will be specially set up with tables, chairs, and umbrellas. Cleanliness brigadiers will ensure these friendly spaces remain tidy.
A Downtown Transformed by Greenery and Flowers
Numerous downtown streets will be enhanced with flower boxes, tree planters, and hanging baskets. This greening initiative will continue throughout the year.
This project is made possible thanks to the support of the Borough of Ville-Marie.
A Diverse and Entertaining Program
Downtown Montreal supports the major festivals and events taking place in its area, including Francos de Montréal, the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the OSM’s Virée Classique, and Just for Laughs.
