Free concert by É.T.É in Square Phillips

Montreal centre-ville’s member companies invite you to Square Phillips for a lively afterwork this summer. Throughout the summer season, enjoy free concerts in the splendid Square Phillips. On August 23, É.T.É will entertain the square!

It was after meeting at traditional jam sessions in Montreal that the three partners decided to get together to create a repertoire. Each coming from different backgrounds (classical, jazz, traditional), they quickly noticed how their different influences enabled them to take up traditional Quebec music and create a unique sound that reflects their image, i.e. modern and dynamic, but also full of finesse and subtlety. Although their lyrics are all drawn from the traditional repertoire, the majority of their instrumental pieces and song arrangements are original compositions, reflecting the variety of styles they master. The integration of jigging numbers into their show makes their performances even more impressive.

The group quickly gained recognition from the artistic community, winning numerous awards and accolades. After the release of their first album in 2017, Le boire des minuits, É.T.É received the distinction of Discovery of the Year at the Gala des Prix OPUS of the Conseil québécois de la musique, in addition to being awarded the Prix Lynda-Lemay for the featured artist having been noticed by the international delegation of the Festival international de la chanson de Granby. Since their second album, Les quatre roses, É.T.É has been on the road a lot, playing dozens of dates in Quebec, Canada and abroad, including their first appearance in the U.K. (Celtic Connections), a tour of Australia and several shows in the U.S. The release of their latest opus in November 2022, Sur ces eaux, is very promising.
