Born in Great Britain and the United States in the 1950s, pop art reached its peak in the 1960s and continued its international expansion throughout the 1970s. This exhibition showcases a selection of emblematic works of pop art from the MBAM’s collection, including pieces that have never or rarely been shown. You could see works by Andy Warhol, Pierre Ayot, Tom Wesselmann, Edmund Alleyn and more.<\/p>\n
The subjects represented – including everyday objects, branded products, current events, celebrities and female characters ranging from comic book heroines to stay-at-home moms to objectified women – highlight the infiltration of commercialism, technology and media into the urban environment.<\/p>\n
